Liberia: Gongloe Concedes Defeat In Presidential Race

The Presidential candidate on the ticket of the opposition Liberian People’s Party— Tiawan Saye Gongloe has conceded defeat in the Tuesday’s October 10, presidential and legislative elections.
Gongloe was among 19-other presidential candidates opting to unseat incumbent President George Weah.
Gongloe ran on a mantra of fighting public corruption which he symbolized with a broom.
However, addressing a news conference Thursday, Gongloe said unofficial tally sheets in his possession shows that he is nowhere around the ten runner-up, hence, he concedes defeat.
According to him Liberians have decided to Vote the Current ruling party and the former ruling party and their decision should be respected.
The LPP presidential Candidate asserted that the presidential election will be won by either the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change or the former ruling Unity Party.
At the same time, Gongloe called on all losers in the just ended election to accept the final results that will be announced by the National Elections Commission.
He ended with his famous quote “Broom is here forever, because a better Liberia is only possible with the broom.”
