Grand Kru Technical College Embarks on Two-day Workshop for Workplace Efficiency

To help craft a strong and positive future for Liberian students, the Grand Kru Technical College in Barclayville, Southeastern Liberia has embarked on a Two-day Faculty and Support staffs capacity development program under the theme: Improving Workplace Efficiency, Train, Inspire and Equip. The session runs from April 11-12, 2024.

About 150 participants from Grand Kru, Maryland and Montserrado Counties, particularly students, faculty, as well as representatives of traditional elders, civil society and women leadership will be in attendance.

The two-day academic session which  geared towards quality teaching,   learning and practical research provides a space for stakeholders of Grand Kru County  especially academicians, professionals and students to come together to share practical and hand-on skills, fostering a sense of community and togetherness.

According to the Administration of the Grand Kru Technical College, the two days sessions is

more than just exploring new teaching techniques and acquiring new academic knowledge, it’s will be an transformative experience that shapes professional trajectory and standards in education in a profound ways.

It is also designed  towards remodeling the Technical College in the ways that reflects globally recognized institution.

The Chairman of the Grand Kru Legislative Caucus, Senator Numene T.H. Bartekwa will deliver the Opening Address, while the Chair of the Board of Trustees of College, Prof. Weade Kobbah-Boley will diver a special statement.

Other distinguished sons of Grand Kru County  including the Speaker of the 55th Legislature, Hon. J. Fonati Koffa,  Senator Albert Tugbe Chie and Representative  Nathaniel Barway are expected to attend and  deliver remarks at the events.

Meanwhile, the workshop will be facilitated by several academicans and professional Liberians including the Dean of the Amos C. Sawyer College of Social Sciences and Humanities, Associate Professor Dr Josephus M. Gray, who is also Sharda University in India Ambassador to the Republic of Liberia and son of Grand Kru  County.

Dr. Gray will present on the topic: Quality Teaching, Learning and Practical Research,  and the Impact of a College’s standardized curricula, syllabi and faculty development.

Other facilitators include the Administrator of Grand Kru Health Center, Dr. Wreh and the Grand Kru Chief Education Officer, Mr. Norwane Karmeih; to be followed by group presentations.

Dr. Wreh and.Mr. Norwane will present on the topics: Promoting Conflict Resolution at workplace and Classrooms Management Techniques and fostering professional environment.

Meanwhile, the two days events will be climaxed with sporting activities particularly  a football match between the Grand Kru Technical College and the Barclayville Old Timbers.

The Grand Kru Technical College in 2023 transitioned from TVET status to a full Technical College and offers a Two-year Associate degree in Six Major Disciplines including Agriculture Technology, Education, Enginerring and Technology,   Business, Natural Sciences and Heth Sciences. In the future, the college will transition to a Bachelor’s degree level.

The College was established in February 2019 through an Act of the National Legislature of Liberia. The Board of Trustees of the Grand Kru Technical College was appointed by former President of Liberia, Dr. George Manneh Weah to give directions and formulate polices to move the institution forward.

The college is suited in Green Hill Community in Barclayville City, Grand Kru County. The faculty of the College including Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. degree holders with vast and professional success, expertise and experience in several  fields of studies both in Liberia and abroad.

The college’s motto: “Enlightening Minds to Unlocking Potentials” while the college has a well structure both academic and administration organised and in placed.
