Supreme Court Blocks Original Countryman
The Supreme Court of Liberia on Thursday, August 31, 2023, disqualified Thomas Tweh commonly known as Original Country Man on grounds that he does not domiciled in Montserrado County District 11 for which he wants to contest.
Giving the judgment on behalf of the court, Chief Justice Sie-A-Nyene Yuoh adjudged that Tweh is not domicile in the district based on information provided through the Geo Information Services.
The court insists that allowing him to contest the election will amount to violation of the constitution.
The decision of the court followed complaint by legislative candidates Siah Tandanpolie of the New Liberia Party, and Mr. Emmanuel Togbah of the All Liberian Party.
Speaking to journalists, Siah commanded the court for such a decision, saying the rule of law is working perfectly.
For his part, Lafayettee Gould another aspirant for the district seat said he’s happy that the court has ruled in the right direction.
