Liberian Legislature Hosts High-Level Korean Delegation to Strengthen Bilateral Relations and Discuss Support for Korea’s World Expo 2030 Bid 

The 54th Legislature of the Republic of Liberia Thursday, 14 September welcomed a distinguished Korean delegation for a series of productive meetings aimed at enhancing economic and social ties between the two nations.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives Dr. Bhofal Chambers and Senate Protem Albert Chie warmly received the Korean delegation, recognizing the mutual benefits of a closer partnership. The Speaker on behalf of the House of Representatives expressed the Legislature’s dedication to fostering deeper ties and exploring opportunities for expanded economic and social collaboration.

Protem Chie said as both nations work to strengthen their partnership, the visit of the Korean delegation marks a significant step toward building a brighter future of cooperation and cultural exchange between Korea and Liberia.

 The delegation’s visit holds special significance as Korea seeks Liberia’s support in its bid to host the World Expo 2030, a global event that promises to bring nations closer together through cultural exchange and collaboration.

The visiting Korean delegation, led by Ho Sung Song, the President and Chief Executive Officer of KIA Corporation and team, arrived in Liberia with a clear objective: to strengthen diplomatic relations and explore opportunities for mutual growth and cooperation. Their discussions with Liberian lawmakers revolved around the strengthening of economic partnerships, cultural exchanges, and educational collaborations.

One of the key highlights of this diplomatic engagement was Korea’s formal request for Liberia’s support in hosting the World Expo 2030. The World Expo, a globally renowned event, serves as a platform for countries to showcase their cultural achievements and technological advancements. It attracts millions of visitors worldwide and fosters international cooperation.

The Ambassador of South Korea to Liberia with concurrence accreditation to Liberia, H. E. Kim Young-chae accompanied the delegation and has disclosed the his country,  the People’s Republic of South Korea is concluding diplomatic efforts to donate 100 vehicles to Liberia for its public administration.

Amb. Young-chae also divulged that South Korea will be extending an invitation to Liberia to form of his government plans to host its first South Korea-Africa Cooperation Summit in Seoul next year.

The Korean Diplomat also emphasized the importance of building a robust partnership between Liberia and Korea. “Our visit to Liberia signifies our deep commitment to forging a strong relationship with this great nation,” Amb. Kim Young-chae asserts. “We believe that our shared values and goals make Liberia an ideal partner, both economically and culturally. We hope that Liberia will support our bid to host the World Expo 2030, as it will further strengthen our global ties and create opportunities for mutual prosperity.” The Korean Ambassador stated.
