At least dozens of people are feared dead after a fuel tanker exploded in Totota Bong County, killing a number of people and injuring several others.

According to our correspondent Adolphus Dennis, the situation occurred in front of the Upper Room Church on the Totota Broad Street when the gas tanker fell.

“The tanker fell and dozens of people rushed to the scene to collect the fuel. Sadly we saw a huge flame killing several people who had gone under the tanker to collect the petrol,” he told VoL via mobile phone from the scene of the incident.

Meanwhile, our correspondent said local authorities along with community leaders are currently searching for an ambulance to take the injured to Phoebe and the JFK hospital.

“Several victims have been transported to the Phebe Hospital in Bong County while others have been taken to the John F. Kennedy Medical Hospital in Monrovia. A number of victims have also been taken to several local clinics here in Totota,” he said.
