Pres. Boakai Impersonator Drags To Court

A 33-year-old man identified as— Jordan David; purporting to be President Joseph Boakai has been arrested, charged and forwarded to court for prosecution.

An indictment was unsealed against the 33-year-old after several individuals alleged that he collected money from them under the disguise of appointing them into several governmental positions.

The victims alleged that they presented money to suspect Jordan David who in return presented appointment letters to them bearing the signature of President Joseph Boakai.

It is alleged that defendant Jordan David forged the signature of President Boakai to facilitate his crime.

In one of his 419 communications, the suspect prior to his arrest presented a fake letter of appointment, appointing Jordan David as the Deputy Director for Administration of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NAFAA).

On Thursday, April 11, 2024, Magistrate Ben Barco imprisoned Suspect David based upon a complaint filed by the Republic of Liberia by and through Emmanuel Tokpa wherein, in the month of February 2024, the suspect had allegedly fake an appointment letter using the president’s signature to act in the Deputy position at NAFAA in which he used in persuading his victims under the pretense of giving them jobs; thus, duping them out of their cash in the form of credit.

Meanwhile, during his appearance before the Judge, defendant David was slapped with multiple charges such as Criminal Conspiracy in violation of Chapter 10 Section 10.4, Impersonating Officials in violation of Chapter 12 Subchapter B. Section 12.35, Theft of Property which is in violation of Chapter 15 Subchapter D. Section 15.51, and Forgery of Document in violation of Chapter 15 Subchapter E. Section 15.70 of the revised penal code of the Republic of Liberia among others pending trial by a court of law.

On April 5, 2024 defendant Jordan David was arrested, advised of his constitutional/Miranda rights which he waived and was investigated and charged and forwarded to the Monrovia City Court to be tried.

During a police/CSD details investigation conducted with the complainants, and the defendant, it was established that the crimes were committed by Mr. David.

Police investigation also established that the crimes were perpetrated by defendant David who willingly, knowingly, purposely, and with the intent to commit the crimes, criminally conspired with others to be identified to prepare a fictitious appointment letter in order to deceive his victims, purporting himself as an appointed Government official awaiting confirmation, thereby using same to persuade his victims under the pretense of giving them jobs; thus, duping them out of their cash in the form of credit.

The investigation further established that, defendant Jordan David was an employee of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NAFAA) who most of his friends and victims known, but they didn’t know that the defendant was charged and sent to court for Theft of

Property committed against the same institution reference stole outboard engines and fishing nets in 2022.

The defendant admitted to the police and confessed that all those cash received by him were on a credit basis, and that he had deceived his victim/s with the fictitious appointment letter to give them job/s after his confirmation at NAFAA in getting their cash.

The investigation revealed that he (Jordan David) anticipated a job from the President and that he was going to give them jobs.

Police investigation concluded that after thoroughly analyzing the complaint, and the defendant statement, including the recovery of the fictitious appointment letter from the victims; they have resolved to Defendant David with four different charges.
